Gavin Lee, born in Sydney, Australia, is a singer-songwriter and actor who studied finance and law at the University of Sydney. He is known for his roles in Hollywood films such as “Deep Water” directed by Renny Harlin and “The Canyon” alongside Mel Gibson. Gavin’s single, 《龙行天下》, became a hit during the 2024 Spring Festival in China and was featured on various New Year galas internationally.
From an early age, Gavin had a passion for music, tennis, and golf, serving as the lead drummer in his school band and competing at a state level in tennis. He achieved his associate piano diploma and has won multiple talent shows globally. He continues to study vocals and was the Sydney regional winner of “The Voice of China.”
In the performing arts, Gavin trained at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Australia, The Dome Studio in Beijing, and with Jackie Chan’s Stunt Team at the JC Stunt School, learning acting, martial arts, and film stunts. He released his single 龙行天下 (“Dragons Soaring the World”) during the 2024 Spring Festival to celebrate the Year of the Dragon and reflect on the perseverance that drives Chinese people globally. Within three weeks, the song reached 55 million plays online and was featured on both China’s and Australia’s Spring Festival Galas, as well as topping QQ Music’s hot search list.
In the film industry, Gavin has been a part of several international productions. In the Sino-American co-production “Deep Water” directed by Renny Harlin, he acted alongside Hollywood stars Aaron Eckhart and Ben Kingsley, and Chinese stars Wenhan Li and Nashi. He also appeared in the Hollywood thriller “The Canyon,” directed by Vaughn Stein, with Mel Gibson and Bella Thorne.
In 2023, Gavin was a guest soloist for Richard Clayderman’s four-city Australian tour, performing in front of over 16,000 live audience members. He performed a mix of classical and traditional Chinese music, ranging from Chopin’s “Fantasie Impromptu” to Chen Gang’s “Butterfly Lovers.”
Gavin’s accomplishments extend beyond music and acting, winning the New Silk Road International Modelling Contest in the Australian region, highlighting his diverse talents. He has also won several awards, including the Sydney regional championship, Oceania runner-up, and Best Popularity Award in “The Voice of China” competition. He performed a piano solo at the VisAsia Chinese New Year Gala, attended by former Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.
